Here’s what I’ve meant to share with you for the past few weeks… I got to shoot at a different rhythm last month and it’s been interesting… lots of time with loved ones but also beautiful encounters for photos: 1- This baby humpback whale was playing with us a the surface. Incredible moment that I got to live twice, the second time I didn’t have my camera and I was helping my 3 year old daughter see the baby. The baby was so big that she said: “that’s not a baby that’s the mama!!” 😂 2- For a second I thought @realjoeyhelms would never come back to the surface, regardless the light was so incredible that I felt like capturing this moment - the whales had left us, the sun was setting - magical!! 3- My daughter transformed into a mermaid during this trip - I didn’t even know kids could swim like that at 3 😂. I got to show her and my fam the cool work @coralgardeners are doing to raise awareness and protect the reefs around the world. I’ve been supporting them for a few years and it’s beautiful to see their progression! 4- Couldn’t resist the cutest fish on the ropes where they grow corals before replanting it on the reef. 5- Got to swim a few times with sharks and rays - always tricky to get super clear water… @meganhassa always down to shoot. 6- These two sharks came very close to me - I barely noticed… too focused on taking photos 😂 I’m pretty sure many photographers died because they were too focused on their camera vs real life but we’ll probably never know. 😅 7- Concept shoot in the rain with @meganhassa - the out of focus look is something I try to get better at - it gives a real vibe in a series! 8- another piece from that rain shot - loved the split - just wish it was raining harder!! 9- Thank you to the best in the world for being part of this adventure… it wouldn’t be the same with you @inspiredbytwelve All shot during my time in Moorea, French Polynesia. Now my calendar is going to take me to the streets of Japan… exciting to change environment and get back to street photography 🔥 Have a beautiful day!

I used to think I needed better gear, better lenses, better places to create photos I’d love…
Truth is the one thing that had the biggest impact on my entire trajectory was MINDSET: The day I decided I would become better at photography no matter what kind of gear changed the course of my life forever. I was working full time as an engineer then but would spend endless time at work, in transport and with people observing in my head the light, composition, stories, solely with my eyes and brain. Why? To develop my artistic intuition. The thing people tell you you’re natural at after you’ve spent countless hours on 🙃 Not a single piece of gear has had that much impact on my work as learning those skills. Im excited for October 17, when many will go through this training for themselves through my 30 Days To Great Photos program. Will you join? Early bird stops tomorrow, the link is in bio. I’m always humbled to see the change and progress years after. If you ever hesitate between a training and new gear… don’t think twice. Life throws endless opportunities to grow and let go of what does not serves us anymore.
Old responses and patterns that once kept us safe can, 10-20+ years later keep us away from opening our heart and feeling all of life. Just like clouds in the sky our feelings will transform - one cloud is not better than another - they are all perfect and needed. Feeling is part of our human experience, what creates light creates shadows just like in those images. In photography we embrace both light and shadows with an open heart. I’m eternally working towards extending that philosophy into all aspects of my life. It is not easy but it is beautiful as a whole. My mind loves to be right and pretend it is “others” faults and not mine. That the responsibility is on others. I once heard: “would you rather be right or would you rather be happy?” Truth is if I sit long enough with this question I never want to be “right” - the whole concept behind “being right” breaks down. There is no “right” or “wrong” per say - reality does not care whether we like it or not. It just is as much as we’d like to fight it. My work then becomes opening my heart to reality in all its complexity, felt pain and beauty. Work in progress… -

Welcome to mushroom 🍄 canyon. I’ve been dying to share some shots with you from that trip! Out of pure love. Not for likes or “views” but just because I’m so excited editing and showing them to friends.
I try hard to stay in the zone of “what I love” vs what will “work”. Maybe some will hate it and that’s ok!! So long as I am true to myself and genuinely would share if there was just one friend with me in the room. 🙌
